Prospect of Muonium Laser Spectroscopy

High precision muonium laser spectroscopy is a clean test for Quantum Electrodynamics and a measurement of muon mass. It also provides a clue to the newly found “proton size puzzle”, which could be related to the physics “Beyond Standard Model”. Possible improvements on the muonium two-photon spectroscopy with a colder and higher density muon source will be discussed. The second order doppler broadening and shift, due to the lightness of muonium, limits the accuracy of the absolute transition energy measurement. To resolve this most significant systematic effect, a proposed differential measurement of the muonium 1s2s and 1s3s transitions is discussed.
