Zeeman Optical Pumping of High Optical Density Atom Cloud

We will experimentally study the single-photon light storage with the high optical density (OD) atom cloud. We use the 2D magneto-optical trap (MOT) and Dark magneto-optical trap (Dark-MOT) to achieve this goal. In order to enhance the OD further, we use the technique of Zeeman optical pumping to put the population into a single Zeeman state with the largest absorption cross section.
